New Customer Acquisition for Shopify Brands

Ads Manager can look healthy while Shopify’s new-customer revenue does not. Name the first order you are willing to buy, then give Meta, Google, SEO, and TikTok a job — or stop funding the channel that cannot pay it back.

Shopify Plus Build Cost 2026
In 2026 a Shopify Plus theme launch runs $25,000–$80,000. A custom Plus commerce system, the thing most $5M–$50M brands actually need, runs $150,000–$500,000+. A Hydrogen storefront sits at $200,000–$400,000+ and is a different product, not a Plus add-on. The Plus plan itself is $2,300–$2,500 a month. Apps, media, and data migration are extra.

Shopify Hydrogen Cost 2026
A brand-grade Shopify Hydrogen storefront costs $200,000–$400,000+ to build in 2026, then $10,000–$25,000+ a month to keep. Starter quotes at $10,000–$40,000 describe a repo, not a merchandisable store. Hydrogen and Oxygen hosting are free. The project is not.

Shopify Migration Cost 2026
A real Shopify migration in 2026 costs $15,000–$75,000 for a clean mid-market catalog and $75,000–$200,000 when SKUs, URLs, and integrations are the job. DIY apps move data for a few hundred dollars. They do not move SEO, checkout, or the stack your revenue sits on. Propeller publishes migrations at $75k–$200k.

Shopify Agency Retainer Cost 2026
In 2026 a serious Shopify agency retainer starts around $5,000 a month for one owned workstream (CRO, lifecycle, or storefront), lands at $15,000 a month for a multi-discipline growth partner, and reaches $40,000 a month when design, development, lifecycle, acquisition, and a named senior team sit on one account. Ad spend, apps, and the Shopify plan are never inside that fee.
